This past weekend, Megyn attended the Turning Point Action conference in Palm Beach, FL, as a featured guest speaker. The event featured many politicians, media personalities, and public figures, including former President Donald Trump, GOP presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy, and, yes, Tucker Carlson.
If you follow Megyn on social media, you may have seen her post a picture backstage with Carlson. She teased that they were able to catch up and had “no shortage of topics to discuss!”
On Monday’s show, Megyn was back from the event and ready to share more about her conversation with her long-time friend and former Fox News colleague. She shared that Carlson seems as happy as ever and had a strong warning for Fox News amid the ongoing contract dispute with its highly rated anchor.
The Catch Up
Megyn attended the conference with her assistant Abby, and the two of them were able to catch up with Carlson and his executive producer, Justin Wells, in between engagements. She reflected on how the former Tucker Carlson Tonight anchor’s star power has not dimmed a bit. “I used to have him on my show all the time when I was in the primetime, and I knew back then that he was a star,” she shared. “You spend two minutes with Tucker, and you’re totally reminded of why. He’s just completely magnetic. ”
Despite all that has transpired the last few months, Megyn said Carlson’s spirits remain high. “He’s such a happy warrior,” she said. “He’s been through the wringer these past few months and is just all smiles, easy to be with, and happy to see the bright side of virtually everything – including what’s happened to him.”
Fox News vs. Carlson
For those wishing they could be a “fly on the wall” of the conversation, Megyn joked that “your jaw would have dropped at some of the things that we exchanged” and said there will be “more on that as the days, and weeks, and months go by.”
In the meantime, Megyn said she left her conversation with Carlson more convinced than ever that Fox News needs to let the former primetime host out of his contract. “Fox News has not yet sued Tucker, and they should not,” she noted. “As I’ve said before, it would be a mistake, and I believe it even more strongly now than ever.”
As she explained, Carlson is just looking to make a living in the news business. He is willing to walk away from his contract, and Megyn believes the network should let him. “Just let him go. You fired him,” she concluded. “You’re going to be really sorry, and it’s not going to end well for you or anyone on your side if you go after him… Don’t be dumb.”
