As we talked about a little bit the other day, Vice President Kamala Harris went on The Drew Barrymore Show. They taped an interview some time last week that aired on Monday, and it was just affectation after affectation.
Too Close for Comfort
Barrymore spent the entire interview sitting uncomfortably close to the vice president. As close as you need to be to a microphone, that’s how close Drew was to Kamala. And I felt for Kamala Harris. I really did. You can tell she had embarrassment, and I had secondhand embarrassment.
You could tell it was too awkward of an invasion of her personal space, but this was Drew’s attempt to show the world ‘I’m Oprah. Trust me, I’m Oprah.’ No. For Oprah Winfrey, it came naturally. She didn’t have to force a fake, feigned intimacy. That’s why she became Oprah. Okay? You’re not Oprah, Drew. And your segment with Kamala Harris proved it.
Kamala Harris, on the other end, sat there accepting this adoration as though it was real, as though Drew Barrymore speaks for us all, as though all American women are like ‘Kamala is our leader, the feminine hero that we need.’
Awkward Introductions
The interview was a series of awkward moments, but it all started with the introduction. Watch here.
I just threw up a little in my mouth.
The over-the-top behavior of Drew Barrymore — who everyone used to like — is really something. Now, truly, it’s performative. It’s bad acting. That is what we are seeing. You would have thought Jesus had just walked in the way she treated Kamala Harris. No one feels like this about Kamala Harris. Who does she think she is kidding?
And can you imagine how embarrassed you would be if your introduction included something about your race? What are you bringing up her skin color for? You are so f–cking weird.
‘Her skin color is brown!’ I mean, that is basically what she was saying. How offensive. In defense of Kamala Harris, you could not find one thing she did as vice president to highlight? I might not have liked what you cite, but I am sure the left could find something.
It goes to show race is what they worship. It’s not like Jesus because that is not who she worships. Drew Barrymore worships skin color, which was on display.
‘Momala’ Harris
Drew started the interview with a question about parenthood and Harris’ experience as a stepmother to her husband Doug Emhoff’s two kids. She explained that they call her “Momala” — which I actually think is kind of cute and clever — but Drew made it weird.
“I keep thinking in my head that we all need a mom. I’ve been thinking that we really all need a tremendous hug in the world right now. But in our country, we need you to be Momala of the country,” she said. “And as a woman who respects so much, and wants to share, and wants to be confident, and has no ounce of me that has competitiveness, when we lift each other up, we all rise. However, we need a great protector.”
She wants us to believe that the “great protector” who we apparently all desperately want is Kamala Harris. She does not realize we are hurting because of her policies. If the nation needed a hug, it never in its right mind would go to Kamala Harris.
That is why this exchange failed so miserably. It was untrue. If there had been even a nugget of truth in it, maybe it could have landed. But it didn’t because this is not who you would go to for a hug. There is nothing warm, fuzzy, or comforting about Kamala Harris. Even the left would back me up on this.
‘It’s a Turn Off’
So, this was just Drew Barrymore being completely obsequious because, I guess, she was so thrilled she got a sitting vice president on her show. It was an embarrassment. It was almost as bad as her bowing down during an interview with Dylan Mulvaney. Her inability to control her emotionality is really a problem for her, and it is a real turn off to somebody like me.
