Megyn Has Some Thoughts About Kamala Harris’ Response to Donald Trump Visiting Arlington National Cemetery

On Monday, we brought you our exclusive sit-down with four National Guard veterans who served with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. They spoke about their criticism of Walz’s long history of lying about his service record and why it should matter in this race.

The interview has received massive media coverage, except from corporate outlets like The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, and the Associated Press. But maybe they just don’t care about military stories. Maybe they don’t care when the controversy involves military service personnel. Oh, wait…

Perhaps you have heard about the controversy erupting over former President Donald Trump’s visit to Arlington National Cemetery to commemorate the third anniversary of the attack on Abbey Gate in Afghanistan that killed 13 U.S. service members.

Last week, the Trump campaign posted a video of the visit on TikTok showing the former president laying a wreath and meeting with Gold Star family members in Section 60 at Arlington where recent U.S. war dead are buried. Watch:

Should have never happened.

Vice President Kamala Harris was quick to pounce, tweeting, in part, that Arlington is not a place for politics and “Donald Trump’s team chose to film a video there, resulting in an altercation with cemetery staff.” She went on to say “the former president disrespected sacred ground, all for the sake of a political stunt.”

The Gold Star families, with whom she has not visited, were not impressed with the vice president’s statement. Mr. Trump’s social media team released this video of them responding to Ms. Harris on Monday:

What’s more, former President Trump is not the only one to post images of himself at Section 60 during a campaign. In fact, the sitting president, Joe Biden, also used images of himself at Arlington to make political statements when he was running with Kamala Harris.

During his 2020 presidential campaign, Joe Biden posted an image of himself as vice president standing over a grave in Section 60 as part of a Memorial Day message (above).

He also had a photo-op in Section 60 in 2021 after announcing the withdrawal from Afghanistan (above).

Of course, Mr. Biden has been lambasted by those who lost loved ones during the disastrous withdrawal for repeatedly checking his watch as their bodies were returned home. That is Kamala Harris’ boss. I don’t remember her statement condemning any of it.

Recently, at his only debate with former President Trump this year, President Biden seemingly forgot that these 13 servicemen and women even died at all, claiming he was the “only president this century that doesn’t have… any troops dying anywhere in the world like [Trump] did.”

It is unbelievable.

In her condemnation of Trump, Harris also wrote: “If there is one thing on which we as Americans can all agree, it is that our veterans, military families, and service members should be honored, never disparaged, and treated with nothing less than our highest respect and gratitude.”

Is that what your boss did when he checked his watch, so bothered was he having to stand there for the dignified transfer? Is that what you did when you didn’t even bother to show up to the dignified transfer when their remains came back stateside? Is that what you did when, according to the families, you were invited to go to this same memorial as Trump (something the White House now denies) and didn’t show up?

Is that what you mean by treating the families with “nothing less than the highest respect and gratitude”?

She went on to say, “and it is my belief that someone who cannot meet this simple, sacred duty should never again stand behind the seal of the President of the United States of America.”

Interesting, isn’t it?
