‘Finish the Job’: Prosecutors Reveal Chilling Letter Allegedly Written by Suspected Trump Assassin Months Before Failed Plot

One week after the latest assassination attempt against Donald Trump, prosecutors are revealing chilling new insights into the psyche of suspected would-be killer Ryan Wesley Routh.

The 58 year old allegedly penned a letter that was given to a friend months ago, in which he admitted to an assassination attempt on Trump and offered money to anyone willing to “finish the job.”

On Monday’s show, Megyn was joined by Vivek Ramaswamy, author of Truths, to discuss the new evidence and what questions Americans need answers to.

Routh’s Writings

In a new filing from federal prosecutors on Monday, it was learned that Routh – who is accused of having camped out with a rifle for some 12 hours in the bushes outside of Trump’s West Palm Beach, FL, golf course to take a shot at the former president – had previously written a letter detailing his intentions.

A witness told investigators that Routh dropped off a box at his home several months ago that he did not open until hearing about the assassination attempt last week. According to the filing, the box “contained ammunition, a metal pipe, miscellaneous building materials, tools, four phones, and various letters.”

In one letter (above) addressed to “The World,” Routh wrote: “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you. I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster. It is up to you now to finish the job; and I will offer $150,000 to whomever can complete the job.”

He also claimed Trump is unfit for office. “Everyone across the globe, from the youngest to the oldest, know that Trump is unfit to be anything, much less a U.S. president,” Routh continued. “U.S. presidents must at a bare minimum embody the moral fabric that is America, and be kind, caring and selfless and always stand for humanity.”

In the wake of the filing, a federal magistrate judge ordered the suspect remain detained pending further proceedings.

‘This Is Weird’

In Megyn’s view, there are a couple of ways to read the screed. “Here’s this guy who makes $3,000 a month, and has… a home in Oahu in Hawaii, and a son he is helping support who I think is a roofer, and he’s throwing out a $150,000 offer – a bounty – on Donald Trump,” she asked. “This is weird, and we will have people wondering whether this is just the rantings of a madman or whether he actually had a financial backer.”

Ramaswamy said the letter and situation surrounding how it came to light only add to the “total weirdness and bizarre set of facts that continue to get more and more bizarre… on both of the assassination attempts.”

The American people are, as he explained, still owed “a proper recounting of what exactly went wrong with the Secret Service protection at that Butler rally” in July, and now the questions continue to compound in this most recent attempt on Trump’s life.

“I’m a guy who responds to facts rather than to speculate what might or might not be happening… but this is particularly bizarre,” Ramaswamy admitted. “Usually, the history of these assassination attempts is that it’s either a mentally deranged or ideologically motivated person who is carrying out the act… [and] you don’t have these doubly strange facts to go with it.”
