Megyn Slams ‘Disaster Tourists’ Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for Trying to Capitalize on L.A. Wildfires

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle chose to inject themselves into the devastation in Los Angeles over the weekend for one reason: To get their faces back on camera and to improve their image. These absolute cretins want people to think well of them, so they decided what the people really needed was to see them.

‘Disaster Tourists’

The reports are that they wanted to be discreet and keep a low profile when they visited victims and first responders at the Pasadena Convention Center on Friday, and yet they made sure they got on camera. They made sure that their names got in the press.

To be fair, when you are actually a member of the Royal Family – as Prince Harry was – and the British population are your subjects, maybe people do need to see you during times of tragedy. But Harry, you are in America now and we don’t give a sh-t about you. You are not our prince. We hate your wife. Stay at home in your $29 million Montecito mansion, and stop getting off on the trauma porn of real suffering in Los Angeles. It is ridiculous, and it is offensive.

And don’t take my word for it. Go look at the X feed of our friend Justine Bateman. She went off on these two calling them “disaster tourists,” which is exactly right.

On Saturday, she re-posted the local Fox affiliate’s coverage of their ‘low key’ visit with the caption: “Meghan Markle and Harry are no better than ambulance chasers. What a repulsive ‘photo op’ they achieved. They are ‘touring the damage’? Are they politicians now? They don’t live here; they are tourists. Disaster Tourists.”

Charitable Image

The media has been breathlessly reporting on how she and Harry have opened their mansion to friends who fled the fires and the message on their website telling others to do the same. But this is not about charity; it is about her image.

Let’s not forget that the Queen’s husband, Prince Philip, was dying when Markle sat down with Oprah Winfrey and suggested one or both of them were raging racists for supposedly making a comment about her unborn child’s skin color.

She could not have cared less about the timing because she doesn’t care about anyone other than herself – and I include Harry in that. She cares about her image. Period. That is why she is in Pasadena and it just so happens to be on camera.

She did the same thing after Uvalde, TX, after the mass shooting that killed 19 students and two teachers at an elementary school in 2022. She flew down there and made sure she got her photo taken at the memorial when kids had just died at the hands of a shooter. This is a pattern for her.

If you want to help the people of Los Angeles – and I know that millions of Americans around the country right now are doing exactly this – you can make a donation. You can participate in GoFundMe. There are all sorts of groups that need help. You don’t have to show up and inject yourself right in the heart of it on camera where you know you will become the story.

How about they donate the proceeds of those Netflix and Spotify deals? They reportedly made upwards of $150 million to do hardly anything. That is what led Spotify executive Bill Simmons to call Harry and Meghan “grifters.”

Netflix on Pause

Markle’s new eight-episode Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, was supposed to premiere on Wednesday but has now been pushed back to March.

Do you know why she can’t air the series now? Because it is all about her Martha Stewart-type reinvention in her huge mansion (even though it is not her mansion, but rather a rented one) with her celebrity friends. She is trying to make herself into like Queen of Montecito and sell us jams, and breads, and a lifestyle that she is curating.

It would be a bit tone deaf for her to drop this steps from the ashes of her neighbors in L.A. and their community that has been absolutely leveled. She can’t release it. And Netflix, you will now release it at your own peril. That thing needs to wait a year minimum before it hits the airwaves. Otherwise, you will have people like me all over you for being disgustingly insensitive.
