‘This Is Odd’: Megyn Reacts to a Newly Revealed Seven-Minute Voice Memo Justin Baldoni Sent Blake Lively

The legal drama between It Ends with Us co-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni continues to get weirder by the day.

Baldoni, who produced, directed, and starred in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel of the same name, appears to following through on his promise to release the receipts that undermine the claims of a toxic work environment and sexual harassment leveled by Lively in her bombshell lawsuit against him.

Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, revealed text messages between the production team on The Megyn Kelly Show earlier this month, raw footage from the set was obtained by TMZ last week, and now there is a seven-minute voice memo from Baldoni to Lively that is making the rounds.

The Latest Evidence

The actor’s tone and behavior in the lengthy message underscore just how bizarre this case is turning out to be, but the contents do cast further doubt on Lively’s allegations that Baldoni was “chauvinistic” and “borderline abusive” towards her throughout the production process.

On Tuesday’s show, Megyn played a two-minute edit of the lengthy voice note, which included ‘highlights’ such as:

BALDONI: Hey, Blake. It is two in the morning. Hopefully this does not wake you up… I want to start with an apology. Man, I– reading the second part of your message, my heart sank. And I’m really sorry. I for sure fell short, and you worked really hard on that. And the way you framed it and how that made you feel, I just want to say thank you for sharing that with me. That takes a lot of trust and vulnerability…

And damn right, you got great friends, if that’s how you felt, and they knew that, and [redacted]. We should all have friends like that. Aside from the fact that they are two of the most creative people on the planet, the three of you guys together is unbelievable. Talk about energy and just a force, all three of you. But I just wanted you to know that I didn’t need that because it’s really good, and it’s gonna make the movie sing like you said, and I’m excited to go through the whole movie with you.

I’m just excited to spend time with you. I’m excited to, to be in your sphere and your presence, and for us to share creative juices together, although that sounds terrible. You know, I think you and I have been trying to build a relationship, which I think we’ve done successfully. I mean, here we are talking like this, me into my phone at two in the morning… But there’s nothing more exciting to me, like, than I get to work with Blake Lively and have her all of her…

Anyways, I have so much more to say. I’m gonna stop rambling because, Jesus Christ, it’s been six minutes and 30 seconds. So, [redacted]. I’m sorry. [laughs] You probably have kids all over you, and a baby on your boob, and you’re listening to me ramble at two in the morning.

As Megyn noted, the nature of Baldoni’s groveling makes it seem like this message was sent after a meeting between him, Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and, reportedly, Taylor Swift about changes the actress wanted to make to the film.

Megyn Reacts

Megyn admitted that she could not imagine receiving such a message from anyone, let alone a colleague. “He is an odd man. This is an odd, odd man,” she said on Baldoni. “Nobody wants a seven-minute voice memo or voicemail from anybody. Even just a call seems aggressive in 2025, doesn’t it?”

That said, she doesn’t think it does Lively any favors. “What I hear is an emasculated man who… is a bootlicker begging for his star to treat him well and let him participate in his movie, which doesn’t exactly make Justin look great but it certainly doesn’t support her narrative that he was this evil, brutal bully, sexual harasser,” Megyn explained. “She played with fire, and now she got burned. This isn’t going to end well for you, Blake.”

But she also had a message for Baldoni: “His book 2021 was called Man Enough: Undefining My Masculinity, and he did a whole podcast trying to undefine his masculinity,” Megyn noted. “Justin, you succeeded. You’re good. You can stop unspooling now because there is no thread left on that thing.”
