‘Help Us’: Border Czar Tom Homan Has a Message for Selena Gomez After Her Outburst About Deportations

Selena Gomez made headlines on Monday when she posted – and quickly deleted – an Instagram Story video in which she sobbed about Donald Trump’s immigration policies. “All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something, but I can’t,” she stammered through tears. “I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”

She captioned the post “I’m sorry” with a Mexican flag emoji, and the backlash must have been swift because Gomez took the post down soon after. Megyn and Batya Ungar-Sargon were among those who questioned whom exactly the actress thought she was crying for given that the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other law enforcement agencies have thus far targeted migrants with criminal records.

On Tuesday’s show, Megyn was joined by Donald Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, who had a message for Gomez given the size and scope of her platform.

Homan’s Message

With some 422 million followers, Gomez is the third-most followed account on Instagram. Homan said her platform could be used to “save lives” instead of fear mongering, and he offered the following call to action:

“I wish she would message to Mexico and other countries that this isn’t way down to the country legally, right? A quarter million Americans are dead from fentanyl that comes across that border. I’m sure many are fans of hers. A 600 percent increase in sex trafficking of women, children… So, cry for them… Cry for the thousands of families in this nation who had a permanent separation from their children because they were killed by illegal aliens and they buried them.

Help us secure the border. Save life. Send a message out that this is not the way to come across the border. Under Joe Biden, a record number of Americans died because of his open border policy with fentanyl and a record number of aliens have died across the border…

So, if you want to help, if you want to cry, cry for those who have suffered because of the open border crisis… I’ve said this a hundred times, open borders kill a record amount of Americans, a record amount of migrants. But you know what? A secure border saves lives…

Those who enter the country illegally, they’re cheaters… There are people in this world who do the right thing to come to the country the right way. These people are taking a front seat away from people that really deserve to come to this country. Help us to send that message: A secure border saves lives. That is where she should be putting her anger, her sadness, everything else. Help us. We can save lives together.”

Homan noted that illegal border crossings were down by historic rates during the first Trump term, which made the U.S. safer for all Americans. “When 90 percent less people were coming in, how many women were getting raped by the cartels? How many children didn’t drown in that river? How many Americans didn’t die from fentanyl,” he asked “How many children weren’t found in pornographic movies and sex slavery? How many women weren’t forced into sexual slavery at massage parlors across this country? How many cartel members didn’t make it into this country to spread their poison throughout the nation?”

While Gomez claimed to be helpless in her video, Homan said there is plenty she can do. “You’ve got a big platform. Help us save lives,” he reiterated. “Secure borders save lives.”

The Plan

While Gomez may have been shedding tears for the some 4,000 “national security and public safety threats” who have been apprehended since Trump took office last week, Homan has been open about the tears he has shed in his more than three decades on the job after holding the lifeless bodies of dead children or speaking with young victims of sexual assault.

“I take this job seriously because of what I have seen in my 34 years,” he said. “And for the folks out there that hate me, if you wore my shoes for 34 years, you would understand the passion, you would understand why I think a secure border saves lives.”

He believes this second Trump administration has the will and ways to get it done. “President Trump’s promise to the American people is we’re going to secure the border,” Homan concluded. “He is like the Pentagon, and I am like the field general. He has great vision… They gave me the tools to do this with. I’m out there making sure those tools are implemented, and we save this country and make this country safer.”
