‘It’s a Blessing’: Megyn Celebrates and Reflects on the 1,000th Episode of ‘The Megyn Kelly Show’

Cheers to 1,000!

Wednesday marked the one thousandth (!) episode of The Megyn Kelly Show – a fact Megyn herself didn’t even realize until her kids surprised her with a sweet balloon display to commemorate the milestone this morning (those are her son Thatcher’s legs in the background).

To keep the surprise festivities going, Megyn’s husband Doug conspired with her producers to join her for a champagne toast and some sweet reflections at the top of Wednesday’s show.

Family Affair

Megyn and Doug thought back to September 2020 when the show launched as an audio-only podcast broadcast from her children’s tiny playroom in their New York City apartment.

As Megyn recalled, she had a small desk in the corner of the room and her assistant Abby was camped out on a beanbag chair on the floor. “There were just four of us,” she said of the team at the time. “And we hoped it would work out.”

Doug said he had no doubt about the future success. “You have so many gifts that are suited for this that any one of them is rare to find, but to see them all in one person is amazing,” he said. “So, I had no doubt you were going to be amazing.”

What the show has grown into over the past four and a half years, Megyn said, is thanks to the hard work of many. “I would love to take all the credit, but the truth is, my team… doesn’t receive enough affection and love,” she said. “The work of my producers, my booker, our tech staff is really what makes the show sing.”

“I can be a total pain in the ass behind the scenes when things go wrong. I am not an easy task master. I really have a very high bar for quality on the show because I want [the audience] to experience that,” Megyn continued. “So, my team handles… those moments, and we have all been together for years.”

The success of the show also wouldn’t be possible, Megyn added, without the support of her family, and Doug said it has been a wonderful adventure for all of them. “You provided so many opportunities for the kids, too,” he said. “They’re getting a richness of education through experience of getting out and seeing so much in this political season, which has been amazing.”

Well Wishes

But it wasn’t just Doug who was there to celebrate the big 1-0-0-0. Many Megyn Kelly Show regulars also shared their well wishes via video messages:

Megyn’s Message

Ultimately, Megyn thanked the audience for their ongoing support that makes The Megyn Kelly Show possible:

“Our move over into the podcasting lane did wind up being, I think, consequential, and so did Tucker Carlson’s… It is not like we were first by far. Ben Shapiro, Joe Rogan, Dave Rubin, and so many others were blazing a path. But we were one of the earliest big names from the traditional media to come over…

And the one-two punch of yours truly and Tucker within a relatively short window did send a message to the whole industry that there was a new game in town, that people who were free thinking and free speakers were just done being constrained. We weren’t going to go back to that other industry and play by those same rules anymore.

I really think that is why… this show has done well. People know when they are being spoon-fed astroturf messaging or corporate-approved messaging, or when you just have your wings clipped on every segment. It is a blessing. We are very lucky to be able to do it and, as I always say, doing it in my stretchy pants and my Uggs. Winning!

Thanks to my team and our audience for making this happen… I could not have done any one of these episodes without all of you. God bless you, and thank you for supporting our efforts to bring you the news in a way that we hope you find informative but entertaining and most of all – on most days – pretty fun. I hope it is an enjoyable way to spend an hour and a half plus.”
