‘She Got Political’: Megyn Gives Her Take on Why Taylor Swift Was Booed at the Super Bowl

As I shared last week, my husband Doug and I were invited to attend the Super Bowl by YouTube. I thoroughly enjoyed myself (you can check out my photos from the weekend here), but one of the interesting things was that our seats ended up being basically right in between Taylor Swift and Donald Trump.

Taylor was in a box to my right along with her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s family, and the presidential suite was to my left with Trump and all of his guests.

The Biggest Loser

Other than the Kansas City Chiefs, I think it is fair to say Taylor Swift was the biggest loser of the night. I am sure you have seen the videos at this point. There was such a juxtaposition in the crowd reaction to Taylor versus the crowd reaction to President Trump when they showed them on the Jumbotron.

It was just so obvious the crowd loved Trump. The cheers were loud. Taylor, meanwhile, was audibly jeered and footage caught her looking confused about why the crowd was booing her. I submit to you that the reaction only had a tiny bit to do with her support of the Chiefs (because I do think it was a predominantly Eagles crowd). I believe it mostly had to do with her politics and her shoving them down our throat.

Trump even commented on it on Truth Social after the game. “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium,” he posted. “MAGA is very unforgiving!”

What Went Wrong

Taylor Swift has fought some good battles. She stood up for herself during that whole Scooter Braun thing when he tried to steal her music away. For a while, the country was uniformly behind her. But she blew it because of two things.

Number one, overexposure. It is the same thing that happened with Jennifer Lopez. She was too many places to the point where it is just like, I’m sick of you. In the case of Taylor Swift, I think a lot of people feel like, I gave you some celebration. Maybe I brought my kid to your Eras Tour. But now I get you shoved down my throat in every magazine cover, all over the internet, at the football games every week. I am sick of you.

And then secondly – and more importantly – she got political. No matter which side you choose to support, you are going to alienate half of the country. But that is especially true when you go for the Democrats and say it is the LGBTQ piece of the Dem platform that is making you endorse them.

You may remember she named Kamala Harris’ running mate Tim Walz – a lunatic who literally would like to trans our children and take custody away from us if we don’t want to do it – as the reason for her endorsement.

Taylor Swift managed to alienate more than half of the country. Sorry, Taylor, but FAFO (read: f-ck around and find out). You are currently in the ‘FO’ part of your political endorsement.
