‘Hello, It’s 2025’: Megyn Slams Nike and the NFL for the Outdated Messaging in ‘Female Empowerment’ Ads

One disadvantage of being at the Super Bowl is you don’t get to see the commercials, which are always fun to watch and, when warranted, rip on. I missed that experience this year, so I have slowly but surely been getting caught up.

We ran through some of the highs (Jeep, Uber Eats) and lows (Pfizer, Bud Light) with the guys from Crain & Company on Monday (you can watch that here). But there are a couple others I wanted to talk about that were specifically geared towards women.

The Nike Ad

You may know Jennifer Sey from her appearances on this show. She used to work at Levi’s and was a star gymnast growing up. She started a company called XX-XY Athletics and has been pressuring Nike to publicly stand up for women and girls. Last fall, XX-XY Athletics released an ad called “Dear Nike” with that exact message.

Maybe Nike saw it because they did create a Super Bowl commercial about women. Great, we are halfway there. But is it about keeping men out of their sports? No, it is about… how America is full of sexist pigs. Watch:

“You can’t win, so win”? I’m sorry, they missed the boat entirely. That is not today’s issue. They are ignoring the elephant in the living room.

I went to college from 1988 to 1992, and these were the messages they were telling me then about being a woman in America. It was, ‘You can be emotional; you can be ambitious; you can stand out; you can win.’ Hello, Nike, 2025 called and they want an updated ad that matches the issues of the day, like what is happening in girls sports.

The NFL Ad

Not to be outdone, the NFL decided to drop its own ad – for a reason that remains a mystery to me – that it is completely consistent with what we just saw from Nike. They are also trying to highlight what a sexist society we live in. Watch:

Help me out here because, again, this whole thing seems to be set in the 1980s. They’ve got the razor glasses; the guy has a mullet; he has the collar turned up; they’ve got the rock band. They are also trying to pretend that this girl – when playing against a team of “The Brads,” who are, of course, doofuses because the left loves to portray men, especially white men, that way – smokes them all. That is not how it would actually go.

What is actually happening when girls are playing against boys is they are getting hurt, they are getting beaten, and they are in danger. They are in the pool with the likes of Lia Thomas and are getting absolutely crushed by full body lengths. That is what actually happens because women are at a physical disadvantage. But in this imaginary NFL world, women are crushing “Brad” and guys like him because… girl power?!

All of this, by the way, is meant to promote girls flag football, which is played against other girls. If the NFL wants to get girls playing flag football, why wouldn’t they show girls playing against each other, and how fun it is, and how competitive and fierce it can be? Why do you have to make guys into the big loser oafs who are dumb and outdated? Why would you do that?

This is all part of wokeness, or the “woke mind virus” as Elon Musk calls it. The American people are over it, and we won a whole election in order to send that message.
