President Donald Trump, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard have all made clear that a primary goal of the administration is to restore the culture of the United States military and intelligence agencies that have been accused of going ‘woke’ in recent years.
That ‘woke capture’ was on full display in a revealing report from Christopher Rufo and Hannah Grossman in City Journal this week that exposed salacious discussions of gender reassignment surgeries, trans fetishes, and sexual activities occurring in official chat rooms at the National Security Agency.
On Thursday’s show, Megyn was joined by Buck Sexton, co-host of The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, to discuss the shocking reports and what they illustrate about the state of the federal government.
The Chat Rooms
In their report headlined “The NSA’s Secret Sex Chats,” Rufo and Grossman cited two anonymous sources within the National Security Agency — one current employee and one former employee — who provided them chat logs from the NSA’s Intelink messaging program.
The logs, dating back two years, feature lurid conversations about male-to-female transgender surgery, the experience of sexual pleasure post-castration, “ethical non-monogamy,” and more. According to the sources, the sex chats “were legitimized as part of the NSA’s commitment to” diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and “activists within the agency used LGBTQ+ ’employee resource groups’ to turn their kinks and pathologies into official work duties.”
The current employee said these groups “spent all day” recruiting activists and holding meetings with titles such as “Privilege,” “Ally Awareness,” “Pride,” and “Transgender Community Inclusion.” They were encouraged, the source said, because NSA leadership believed DEI was “not only mission critical, but mission imperative.”
In response to the reporting, Gabbard released a memo calling on intelligence agencies to identify the participants, terminate their employment, and remove their security clearances. During an interview with Jesse Waters on Fox News, she called out the “really, really horrific behavior.”
“There were over 100 people from across the intelligence community that contributed to and participated in this – what is really just an egregious violation of trust, basic rules and standards around professionalism,” she said. “I put out a directive today that they all will be terminated and their security clearances will be revoked.”
What It Reveals
Sexton is one of many former intel agents who believe these chat rooms are just the beginning. “I worked in the CIA for a number of years… I still have a lot of friends on the inside… who say that it feels like it is ‘Trans Awareness Week’ every other week in the Central Intelligence Agency,” he said. “What you are hearing about in terms of how left wing and insane it is, this is just the tip of the iceberg. This has been going on for years. This is systemic.”
While this type of discovery would be a black eye for any agency, he said it is downright dangerous at the NSA. “When you look at the issue of security clearances, which Tulsi Gabbard brought up, these are not just people who are… working in the bowels of the Department of Agriculture,” Sexton noted. “They are being entrusted with top secret and compartmented information, and they are clearly nuts.”
In a follow up report, one of the whistleblowers told Rufo that those who spoke up about the content in the chat rooms were shouted down. “I know several people at the agency brought that up, like, ‘Hey, we’re here to fight for the U.S.A. and go after the adversaries.’ And they just got hammered,” the person alleged. “They would just start coming out with ‘transphobe’ and ‘homophobe’ right away or calling you a ‘racist.’ And that’s why a lot of folks are still hesitant to say anything, because you still have people at these agencies in those key spots. It infected everything.”
The whistleblower echoed Sexton’s concern about how this jeopardizes national security. “I don’t care if you’re politically left or right; you can’t have an unbiased mind if you’re writing a report, and you’re constantly focused on ‘how does this apply to gender ideology,'” the person said. “Because when you do that, it’s going to get people killed in the field.”
