Megyn Slams John Oliver for Downplaying the Problem with Boys Competing in Girls Sports

We need to talk about John Oliver and the entire episode of his HBO show, Last Week Tonight, that he devoted to defending transgender athletes and responding to what he called the right’s “absolute fixation” on the issue this week.

Oliver thinks he is Walter Cronkite and decided he will be the final arbiter on whether men should be allowed to play in women’s sports. He went on to unleash the typical bullsh-t we get from these leftists about how ‘it’s a very small number of people’ and ‘who are they really hurting?’

He claimed he couldn’t find real studies showing any sort of unfairness without spending one minute to consider why that might be. It is because no leftist magazine – which is all of them in the science field – will publish a piece saying biological men have an advantage. That is the world we have been in for the past 15 years. And by the way, the studies aren’t necessary anyway because we have eyes. It is just absurd.

On Riley Gaines

Oliver decided it wasn’t enough for him to just sort of state, ‘This isn’t an issue. This is made up right-wing catnip.’ Instead, he started to go through examples of feminists (in the good sense of that word) like Riley Gaines and Payton McNabb who are actually fighting for women’s rights. That was his favorite target in this long monologue. Here’s what he said about Riley:

OLIVER: …[Trans swimmer Lia Thomas] tied for fifth in the 200 free with Riley Gates, who catapulted to conservative stardom off the back of that race… First, that’s a story about how Lua Thomas prevented Riley gates from getting fifth place instead of fifth place. Second, those trophies look absolutely identical… So, just so we are clear, Lia Thomas didn’t take anything from Riley Gaines. In fact, you could argue she gave a lot to her, as Gaines later decided to forgo dental school in order to be an activist and speaker. She now has her own advocacy center and has personally lobbied multiple state legislatures for bans, all to address the threat posed to women’s sports by a woman who swam exactly as fast as she did to the literal hundredth of a second…

This is like saying: What is Denise Brown complaining about that? Nicole Brown Simpson was murdered, she became world famous, and she is a big advocate now for domestic abuse. F-ck off, John Oliver.

What, so Riley Gaines has no legitimate complaint because she spoke out so effectively about what happened to her that she has become, essentially, a national spokesperson on the issue? She should really be thankful that she had to take off her clothes in front of a fully intact male in a women’s locker room before he goes into the pool and steals their medals?

It is amazing to me how his entire monologue is told from the point of his own physical weakness. He went on and on about how men are not stronger than women, there is no physical advantage. That is probably right if John Oliver is the athlete. But shockingly, John Oliver, there are men out there who go through normal male puberty and emerge on the opposite side full of testosterone and muscle. You should look around. They are everywhere. Not in your mirror, but elsewhere.

On Payton McNabb

Then he turned on Payton McNabb, who was a senior on her high school varsity volleyball team when she was hit so hard in the face by a ball spiked by a trans player on the opposing team that she sustained permanent injuries.

You may remember her from The Megyn Kelly Show. We had her on shortly after this whole thing happened (you can watch it here), but she went on to speak out at her state legislature. She went on to be Melania Trump’s guest at the State of the Union-type speech last month. And look at what Oliver said about Payton:

OLIVER: …The most famous example concerns Payton McNabb, a three sport high school athlete who was hit in the face by a spike during a volleyball match. She suffered injuries, including a concussion, and started speaking out against the policies that allowed the trans player who spiked the ball to play… A concussion is genuinely traumatic – though, for what it’s worth, she did go on to play softball in the spring and did pretty well, judging by her school posting this image about her making the All Conference team and a local paper pointing out she helped her team to a five and zero start. And I’m not saying she wasn’t injured or that it didn’t have some impact on her performance, but a lot of the groups heavily pushing this story seem to be overselling it…

It is like looking at somebody who has gone through hell and saying, ‘Well, you seem fine. What are you complaining about?’ The fact that she got through her injuries and managed to play a sport after them is an inspiration to most of us, you f-cking prick. You don’t look at somebody who has been through great hardship and fought back to do something extraordinary and say, ‘That means injury was a nothing burger.’

By the way, it wasn’t just a concussion. She told us she was unconscious for several seconds and the incident led her to have impaired vision that requires special glasses, partial paralysis on her right side that causes a lag, bad headaches, and anxiety. She also said she required special accommodations at school for testing (which was not an issue before the hit), and she experienced a long, depressive episode.

The arrogance and privilege of this multi-millionaire sitting at his desk trying to lecture this young woman about how ‘She’s fine. It was just a concussion.’ By the way, that would have been enough, you absolute jerk. But weirdly, I didn’t hear what actually happened to her in his monologue, just like I didn’t hear about Riley Gaines having to get naked in a locker room in front of a man.

‘Shut Up’

This leftist, elitist prick has no sympathy or empathy in his heart for this young girl or any young girls. He didn’t mention the girl in Massachusetts who had her entire mouth of teeth knocked out by a male field hockey player posing as a girl. How about all the girl basketball players that we have seen fall down hurt on the court? We could do this all day.

He doesn’t touch on what is happening to women’s rugby, which is being overtaken in various places by these guys and that is dangerous. He’s like, ‘There’s no danger in track.’ Talk about missing a large portion of the point. It is unfair for these girls to work their entire lives to have the glorious feeling of victory only to have it stolen from them.

He cited high school runners in Connecticut – also previous guests of our show – who were losing to guys who had run as men the previous season. He claimed that the girls didn’t lose every race, so it’s a non-issue. That is like telling somebody who has to bike against a doper or fight in the ring against someone on steroids, ‘Well, you got that one round off of them or you got that one race, so what are you complaining about?’

It doesn’t address the fundamental unfairness that the whole contest is rigged. The fact that in this circumstance or that outlier it could be overcome by somebody extraordinary does not disprove the basic unfairness of it. John Oliver, you don’t know what you’re talking about. Shut up until you get actual facts.

He sounds like a caveman with those ridiculous arguments, but he doesn’t care. He wants points in the ‘woke’ bank, which is a bankrupt account. So, go ahead and let your side dig in on this issue, John. You will get spanked again in the next election, and in the one after that, and in the one after that because we have already won.
